The role of the library media
program at Northwestern High School is to:
Support teaching and learning of the curriculum,
Encourage lifelong learning,
Provide access to information, and
Promote recreational reading.
The high school media program supports the academic
and recreational information needs of the students and faculty with
print and electronic resources. It helps ensure that all students are
able to find, evaluate, and use information effectively. Students may
use the library individually, in small groups, or with classes.
"What a school thinks about its library
is a measure of what it feels about education."
-Harold Howe, former Commissioner of Education

Online databases provide students with
access to resources previously made available in print by reputable
publishers, as well as new, expert content written specifically for
online researchers. Because free resources available on the Internet
vary in credibility and accuracy, libraries (state, public, and school)
purchase access to these resources for their patrons, ensuring the quality
of information provided. Talk to the library media specialist if you
have questions about accessing these databases.
